Smoke Free for Frances Perry House
February 2010
As part of our commitment to providing a healthy and safe environment for all staff, patients and visitors, the Parkville medical precinct went completely Smoke Free on Monday 1 February 2010.
The Parkville medical project encompassing both public and private hospitals as well as the various research facilities located in the precinct. Frances Perry House is part of the medical precinct which also includes the Royal Women's Hospital, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne Private, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for medical Research and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
Over the preceding 12 months, all precinct facilities have been working together to become totally Smoke Free in light of the legislative changes to the Tobacco Act and to promote the health and wellbeing for patients, staff and visitors. The final step in becoming a Smoke Free environment is the closure of the designated smoking area currently located in the Women's hospital, just outside the lower ground, Flemington road entrance of the hospital.
Staff, patients and visitors will no longer be permitted to smoke anywhere in the hospital precinct including the car park from Monday 1 February 2010.
