FAQs
I understand Frances Perry is moving to the new facility in mid 2008, when exactly will you be moving?
The move to our exciting new Hospital is in June 2008. We will be admitting patient at the new Hospital from 9 am on Sunday 22nd June 2008.
Why is Frances Perry moving?
As you may be aware, whilst Frances Perry is a private hospital that is owned and run by Ramsay Health Care, we are co-located with the Royal Women’s Hospital. This co-location provides many benefits for our patients. Consequently, with the State Government investing in a new Royal Women’s Hospital in Parkville, Frances Perry will also be moving to the new hospital along with the Royal Women’s.
Will the existing Frances Perry continue to offer services up until you move?
Yes. Frances Perry House will continue to provide our full range of Obstetric and Surgical services right up until the move. Patients coming into the hospital in the lead up to our move will not be impacted in any way by our relocation.
If I am a patient at Frances Perry at the current site in Carlton at the time of the move will I be moved to the new Hospital in Parkville?
Maybe, depending on when you are admitted to the current Hospital in Carlton. A great deal of planning has been completed to ensure only a very small number of patients will require to be moved. All patients will be moved with the support of the ambulance service to ensure the safety of all patients.
I had heard that Frances Perry will be closing for a period of time prior to the move to the new Hospital, is this true?
No. Frances Perry will continue with ‘business as usual’ right up to, during and after the move. Frances Perry House patients will continue to receive the same high level of care and service as always.
How long will the move to the new Hospital take?
Considerable planning has gone into the actual move. We expect that the move itself will take 2 to 4 days. The majority of the move will take place over the weekend of 22nd June 2008.
What will the location of the new Frances Perry be?
The new Frances Perry will be located on the 6th and 7th floors of the new Royal Women’s Hospital. The Hospital will be on the corner of Flemington Road and Grattan Street in Parkville.
When can I see the new Frances Perry Hospital?
Unfortunately due to the great amount of work surrounding relocation of our Hospital we will not be able to offer tours prior to our move. To assist patients booked into the new Hospital we will provide a virtual tour via our internet site from mid June.
Should I do a tour of the current Hospital if I am going to give birth at the new Frances Perry Hospital?
No. There is no value visiting the current Hospital as the facilities and building layout vary greatly at the new Frances Perry Hospital. To assist patients booked into the new Hospital we will provide a virtual tour via our internet site from mid June.
