If you or your baby require additional monitoring or observation during pregnancy, you can receive care by one of our experienced midwives in our dedicated Maternity Care Centre. Our midwives will work collaboratively with your obstetrician to ensure the safety and wellbeing of you and your baby.

During your 60-minute consultation, your obstetrician and our experienced midwives will develop a personalised plan for you and your baby’s ongoing care. Depending on the individual circumstances of you and your baby, you may access this service for a one-off consultation, or we might plan ongoing scheduled consultations.

Please note, a referral from your obstetrician is required to access this service.

Support at Frances Perry House and the Maternity Care Centre doesn’t end when you have given birth. Our International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants can support you with your breastfeeding and lactation concerns during pregnancy and up to six months after the birth of your baby. We offer our Breastfeeding Support Service consultations in person or via Telehealth.

They can support you with complex breastfeeding situations, establishing and maintaining breastfeeding, position and attachment, management of milk supply and much more.

During your private, 90-minute consultation, our lactation consultants will provide you with compassionate support and:

• Obtain a thorough and holistic history of you and your baby
• Observe breastfeeding and modify breastfeeding techniques as necessary
• Weigh your baby and perform weight gain analysis if required
• Complete a full examination of your baby including gentle oral examination if required
• Complete a breast examination if there are any issues or concerns relating to your breasts

At the end of your consultation, you will be provided with a personalised feeding plan and resources, so you feel more confident and supported with breastfeeding and caring for your baby.

We are very pleased to be working with the Gidget Foundation Australia to support not only the physical health but also the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents.

Not-for-profit organisation, The Gidget Foundation Australia, supports families suffering from emotional distress during pregnancy and early parenting and ensures they receive timely, appropriate and specialist care.

Available within the Frances Perry House Maternity Care Centre, The Gidget Foundation Australia offers free on-site consultations and services including:

• Gidget House
  Expectant or new parents can access 10 free clinical psychological sessions with a clinical psychologist. These sessions are bulk billed and require a GP referral and a mental health care plan.
• Gidget Village
  A Group Treatment Program is available for mothers and fathers experiencing Post Natal Depression and Anxiety

These services are available to all Frances Perry House ante and postnatal patients but is also offered to anyone who meets the Gidget Foundation Australia requirements.

Pre-Admission Consultations with a Registered Midwife to discuss your pregnancy, medical history, emotional wellbeing and answer any questions you may have about your hospital experience. The Pre-Admission Consultation is via Telehealth for your convenience.

Support at Frances Perry House and the Maternity Care Centre doesn’t end when you have given birth. Postnatal Consultations provide support following discharge from hospital. During your appointment, our Registered Midwives will be able to provide general feeding and mothercraft support in addition to wound care and postnatal assessments of you and your baby. Please note that this is a short appointment and we recommend that you access our Breastfeeding Support Service with our International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants if you are experiencing breastfeeding issues.
