Frances Perry House - Childbirth & Early Parenting Program
This program is designed to allow you maximum choice in your Childbirth & Early Parenting Education however, these classes are only an overview and therefore will not cover every aspect of your pregnancy & birth.
All classes are held at 55 Flemington Road in a building directly opposite the hospital.

Postnatal & Early Parenting (3.5 hours) |

| This session covers many aspects of your hospital stay, as well as taking baby home and safety. It also discusses some of the changes in roles and personal relationships. Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend this session. We recommend you attend this session between 26-34 weeks of pregnancy. |

Labour & Birth Online |

The Labour and Birth Program can now be completed via an Online Program. This is a brand new program, the first of its kind in Victoria. The Online Program is a detailed, interactive program that can be completed at your own pace. You will be provided with a User ID and will be able to gain access from 25 weeks of pregnancy up until six weeks post delivery. Access to the program is unlimited during this period of time. Both parents and birth partners will have the ability to log on to the program at any stage during the pregnancy to review the information. This program includes information regarding Caesarean Section birth and is relevant to those who know they will deliver via Caesarean Section and also for those who may require a Caesarean Section delivery unexpectedly. This Online program is also suitable for those requiring a refresher update on Labour & Birth. The Program will also encompass an online forum which will be mediated by one of Frances Perry House’s qualified Midwives. Labour & Birth (3.5 hours) |

| This session is designed to assist you in preparing for labour & birth. It covers the signs of labour, labour, active birth, pain relief, the role of the partner and more. Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend this session. This session is conducted by a Registered Midwife. We recommend you attend this session between 28-34 weeks of pregnancy |

Breastfeeding (2.5 hours) |

| This session covers normal lactation, positioning and attachment, “normal” feeding patterns, some common problems and many other areas. Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend this session. This session is conducted by a Registered Midwife. We recommend you attend this session between 24-35 weeks of pregnancy |

Twins Plus (4 hours) |

| This session covers all aspects of multiple births, including labour and caesarean sections (brief outline only), breastfeeding, going home, furniture and home preparation. Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend this session. This session is conducted by a Registered Midwife. |

Physiotherapy Birth Skills (approx 2 hours) |
|
| This is a practical class for couples focusing on active birthing. It includes breathing awareness, relaxation techniques, movement and positioning to promote an active labour. (Limit of 6 couples per class). This session is designed for couples. Wear comfortable clothing. | |
Fathers Time (2 hours) |

| This sessions is for dads and dads-to-be solely to enhance your involvement in your child’s educational, social and mental wellbeing. Our facilitator will lead an informal discussion using latest evidence based information to explore the role of the father both during birth and throughout the pregnancy. | |
Grandparents Class (2 Hours) |
|
| This session is for grandparents and grandparents–to-be to enhance their involvement in their grandchild’s life. This session is conducted by a Registered Midwife. | |
If you would like to bring along an additional person to any session(s) they need to be booked-in prior to attendance and there is an additional cost incurred. |
